This year, Save a Child’s Heart is honored to have been selected as the beneficiary for the 8th Annual Family Hockey Challenge presented by The Jordana Lokash Foundation.

Through our programs in Israel, we provide life-saving cardiac treatment to children from developing countries and train health care professionals from those countries to have the skills to deliver quality care in their home community. To date, Save a Child’s Heart has provided care to over 5,000 children from 59 countries.

Our greatest achievement is that all the children, regardless of nationality, gender, religion, or financial consideration are treated with the finest medical care and cutting edge technology available today.

Your generous contributions from this year’s hockey tournament will go towards providing the children’s rehabilitation area at the new facilities with sports equipment. Play and physical activity are a big part of recovery and this sports equipment will be a source of endless fun and will contribute significantly to morale in the home.

Save a Child’s Heart has contributed significantly to improving global health and saving children’s lives and we cannot thank you enough for joining us as we continue mending hearts around the world.

A LETTER FROM MAYA PRICE

This​ ​past​ ​summer​ ​I​ ​went​ ​to​ ​Israel​ ​for​ my​ ​bat​ ​mitzvah.​ ​As​ ​part​ ​of​ ​our​ ​tour​ ​we​ ​went​ ​to​ ​Save​ ​a Child’s​ ​Heart​ ​and​ ​that​ ​visit​ ​was​ ​one​ ​of​ ​the​ ​highlights​ ​from​ ​my​ ​trip.​ ​I​ ​had​ ​no​ ​clue​ ​what​ ​Save​ ​a Child’s​ ​Heart​ ​was​ ​about​ ​but​ ​right​ ​when​ ​I​ ​walked​ ​in​ ​and​ ​saw​ ​all​ ​those​ ​kids​ ​playing​ ​outside​ ​with big​ ​smiles​ ​on​ ​their​ ​faces,​ ​I​ ​knew​ ​this​ ​was​ ​going​ ​to​ ​be​ ​a​ ​great​ ​experience.​ ​Seeing​ ​all​ ​those​ ​kids who​ ​had​ their​ ​lives​ ​saved​ ​from​ ​Save​ ​a​ ​Child’s​ ​Heart,​ ​made​ ​me​ ​feel​ such​ ​joy.​ ​After,​ ​listening​ ​to what​ ​this​ ​place​ ​did​ ​and​ ​what​ ​is​ ​was​ ​about​ ​I​ ​realized​ ​how lucky​ ​I​ ​was​ ​and​ ​how​ ​lucky​ ​those​ ​kids were​ ​too.​ ​I​ ​remember​ ​during​ ​the​ ​presentation​ ​this​ ​one​ ​little​ ​boy​ ​kept​ ​banging​ ​on​ ​the​ ​doors​ ​and kept​ ​trying​ ​to​ ​get​ ​our​ ​attention.​ ​It​ was​ ​hard​ ​to​ ​resist​ ​running​ ​over​ ​and​ ​opening​ ​up​ ​the​ ​door.​ I loved​ ​how​ ​happy​ ​he​ ​was​ ​to​ ​see​ ​me​ ​and​ my​ ​family.​ ​Then​ ​we​ ​went​ ​out​ ​to​ ​play​ ​with​ ​the​ ​kids​ ​and this​ ​the​ ​same​ ​boy​ ​who​ ​kept​ ​banging​ ​on​ ​the​ ​door​ ​to​ ​try​ ​and​ ​get​ ​our​ ​attention,​ ​came​ ​crawling over​ ​to​ ​me​ ​and​ ​my​ ​brother​ ​and​ ​gave​ us​ ​a​ ​big​ ​kiss​ ​and​ ​hug.​ ​His​ ​left​ ​arm​ ​was​ ​paralyzed​ ​and​ he had​ ​suffered​ ​a​ ​stroke​ ​so​ ​he​ ​couldn’t​ walk.​ ​This​ ​warmed​ ​my​ ​heart​ ​and​ ​I​ ​loved​ ​seeing​ ​him​ ​so happy​ ​to​ ​see ​us.​ ​Most​ ​of​ ​the​ ​kids​ ​we​ ​saw​ ​had​ ​just​ ​come​ ​out​ ​of​ surgery.​ ​They​ ​were​ ​so​ ​excited to​ ​see​ ​visitors​ ​and​ ​had​ ​a​ ​smile​ ​on​ ​their​ ​faces​ ​the​ ​whole​ ​visit.​ We​ ​played​ ​a​ ​lot​ ​with​ ​them​ ​and those​ ​kids​ loved​ ​throwing​ ​the​ ​ball​ ​around​ ​with​ ​us.​ ​This​ ​was​ ​a​ ​trip​ ​of​ ​a​ ​lifetime​ ​but​ ​most​ ​of​ ​all​ ​a visit​ ​of​ ​a​ lifetime.​ ​This​ ​place​ ​meant​ ​a​ ​lot​ ​to​ ​me​ ​and​ ​I​ ​am​ ​so​ happy​ ​I​ ​was​ ​able​ ​to​ ​visit​ ​and​ ​meet some​ ​of​ ​the​ kids​ ​at​ ​Save​ ​a​ ​Child’s​ ​Heart.
