The Jordana Lokash Foundation was established by the family and friends of Jordana Lokash, who died in a car accident in March 1991. Jordana was a gymnastic, majoring in Phys. Ed. at the time of her death. She was a camping enthusiast, who loved to work with children and aspired to use sport and physical activity to help others.
Jordana had a love for Israel, having visited there twice in her short life. Initially, the Foundation established and funded the Frankel Sports Centre in Jerusalem, a gymnastics and recreational activity centre for children located in the Frankel Elementary School in the French Hill area of Jerusalem. After 17 years, the centre was taken over and is now run by the French Hill Community Center.
At present, the Foundation is supporting Save A Child’s Heart, and specifically to provide physical rehabilitation and sporting equipment for a child’s play and recovery room at the new Children’s Hospital and International Pediatric Cardiac Center at the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, Israel. Our goal is to raise $75,000 for this project through our annual fund raising events.
The Foundation is continually looking for new projects to fund that meet its objectives.
The Foundation is empowered to explore and provide ways of using sport as a means of integrating physically and mentally disabled and challenged youth into mainstream recreational activities and to provide equipment for this purpose.
